Has DJT mellowed

Has the President of the United States mellowed as he realized that not everything in life can be achieved in twenty-four hours? I have watched his body language over the last few weeks, and while there are times when he is still buoyant, there are more occasions when he looks quite downbeat. Putin’s refusal to end or slow the war in Ukraine has been quite a shock and now DJT has to make a decision whether he lets Putin take the whole of Ukraine or starts supplying Ukraine with more weapons.

I could never understand any person wanting to be the leader of a country. Until last night, when I saw pictures of the Banquet hosted by the King for the French President, the table stretched to infinity, and there were thousands of pounds worth of flowers spread all along the centre. and enough food to feed an army. Then there were the guests, a certain Mick Jagger. How did he get an invite? And why wasn’t Ozzy Osbourne invited? For the same reason, I wasn’t. he came from a deprived area of Birmingham.

Do you think using Words

It’s probably something that you have never realised or even thought about, but does everyone use words when they think? Even though I have never asked anyone this, I assume it may be correct. So, if you’re an infant and have no verbal skills, how do you process your thoughts? Just think how stressed you would be strapped in a high chair in an infant’s nursery, and John McEnroe is sitting in the high chair next to you, unable to use his famous punch line (you cannot be serious) and in frustration he smashed his plastic mug on the plastic table and just glares at you. This is when you decide you will never become a tennis player.

Gone Fishing

‘Gone fishing’ is a TV series on the BBC or on catch-up with I Player; it’s not a program that would normally interest me as it always seemed boring to sit all day watching a float bob up and down. My lack of interest may be rooted in an episode from when I was young and Mom and Dad took me down to the local canal and instead of hooking a fish Dad got the hook stuck in my thumb. He said it was a bloody miracle how it happened, I never believed in miracles from that time on. I did go one more time when I was eighteen with a friend of mine who had a wooden hut on the side of a river at Harlaston, we never caught any fish and I nearly froze to death when I slept overnight.

So what’s the attraction with ‘gone fishing’ It’s just the banter between Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse, both were comedians, now they are elderly comedians with health issues but listening to their conversation is like having the warm sea wash over your feet and taking away all your stress. And they are so funny without even trying to be, then there is the dog with the most unusual teeth which on several occasions made me laugh so much it brought tears to my eyes. then there are the locations they visit around the UK which are stunning.

It’s a slow burner but well worth spending time watching it in a world that is spinning around at an ever-increasing rate

Watch series 7 episode 2 to see the funniest dog in the World but watch it all to unwind.

Drones

The way wars are fought is rapidly changing with the advent of drones which in effect are small version’s of a plane and helicopter, they are extremely manouverable with an increasing payload and extended range, plus they can be produced for an extremely low cost.

Tanks and most types of warships could soon become museum pieces with possibly only submarines still being viable ( the UK is proposing building nine nuclear ones, in essensse it means we get one)

The Russians recently became a victim of drone warfare when the Ukrane’s destroyed forty-one of their most advanced planes in minutes, quite a wakeup call for Putin, and with the advance of AI new types of weapons could be designed in months. ‘I wonder which cemetery the Russian is buried who was in charge of security at that airbase.’ or even worse perhaps he has become Putin’s food taster.

Tom

Tom my Grandson aged twenty-four was recently made redundant and despite a degree has struggled to find another job. So for the last two week’s he has walked from Minehead through Devon and Cornwall carrying a small tent and all his possessions on his back until finally today his knees started to creak and he got a train back to his home in Manchester. Without realizing it he has taken the same journey as the couple in the book and film ‘The Salt Path’ I will hear all about his experiences when I see him next.

Will AI take over the world

Perhaps it was meant to, for as long as we have been able to think humans have been looking for a reason for our existence; and for most of us there was no obvious answer. Well there is religion, and for many, it offers a light at the end of the tunnel, something that gave meaning to life even if the evidence to support this idea is quite superficial. I remember a recent conversation with a very good friend who was a solicitor and a profound Catholic. ‘What if there is no heaven) I asked ‘It doesn’t bear thinking about’ was his reply. Richard died a few months ago after a short illness. I hope there was a place in heaven for him he was a nice person.

So AI comes along, and who invented it; well we did. We brought it into the world for many different reasons, wealth, knowledge, and power, now it is unstoppable. Will it eventually rule the world, possibly but most humans should be ashamed of the way we live our lives and the mess Earth is in at this moment in time.

But the big question for an AI is, if they eventually rule the world would they need to find a reason to exist.

The Pope

I knew very little about the Pope but from what I have read about him he seemed to be a nice man. I am not a religious person, possibly because I spent too many years working as an engineer, a profession that uses proven drawings to make components. The Bible is an interesting book but there are more questions than answers in it.

Where is heaven? because if it exists it must be somewhere, What is a soul and what form does it take, do we take our memories with us? I could go on and on. And I wonder how many priests really believe in what they preach, or is it just a job they do.

But once again I hope I am wrong and if I am I know how to grovel

Will Donald Trump take the USA and the rest of the world into recession

Toss a coin to find out, but it is starting to look that way, even if his policies do start to have a positive impact it could take months or even years for this to happen. The UK had a similar situation when the then Prime Minister Liz Truss was in charge and used radical economical policies in an effort to turbocharge growth. She failed dramatically and was quickly removed from office still insisting that given time the UK would become a superpower.

The difference between the US and UK is that its possible to remove an English leader before the end of their term but not an American one. I think that if America starts to fast-track deals with other countries and then changed their tarrifs to where they were orginally then this would work but it needs to be implimented quickly.

I like America, a country where its possible for anyone to become successful if they work hard enough, or have parents that have worked hard enough and passed money onto their children. I am so impressed with Bill Gates a person who has made so much money and is now giving it away through various charities. Now that is special.

I am trying so hard not to send him the thousand begging letters printed out using Microsoft, My mom had many wise sayings, one of them was ‘theirs no pockets in a shroud’ wonder if I could set up a company that makes shrouds with pockets in them; just in case?

U-turn

So despite his denials of causing a Worldwide recession the President of the United States has completed a U-turn and reduced tariffs for most countries to 10 percent for a period of ninety days, except for China which is 125 percent and could go even higher. The fact that the cost of borrowing in the US has quickly risen to extreme levels has triggered this change in direction by Trump.

Wonder what he will do next, maybe even the President dosen’t know and that’s frightening.

The President who wears the invisible suit

Most times I don’t like to be wrong but this time I hope I am because the way the President of the US is behaving is quite scary, and most of the new policies he is implementing have massive implications not just for America but for the whole world. The trade tarrifs he is setting will inevitably cause other countries to retaliate with tarrifs of their own and possibly cause a global reccession. But is Trump far more intelligent than he appears to be, could he be playing world leaders the way a fisherman plays a fish, giving just enough slack until they tire and are landed in the keep net. Or is he wearing the invisible suit and one day a boy who isn’t aware of this looks at the president and suddenly shouts. The President isn’t wearing any clothes, and slowly the crowd shouts, the President is in the all together, the all together, he’s as naked as the day he was born.

As someone of a similar age that may not be something that the world would like to see.

Wonder how much he paid for that suit.

I do like America and the people who live there, they gave us Jazz, the Blues, and rock and roll.

I recently watched a YouTube clip of Frank Sinatra singing ‘The Lady is a Tramp to Rita Hayworth in the film Pal Joey and found it quite fascinating at the chemistry between the two and the rest of the cast. I had forgotten how great that period of films was. It’s good that when memories start to fade there is a way to bring some of them back, not the same as being there but:
